CHAPTER IX.

OF THE GREAT COURAGE WHICH I REQUIRE IN ORDER TO SUCCEED IN MINE UNDERTAKINGS.

1. Son, the more evil the times, the greater must be thy courage.

2. If thou have confidence in Me, thou wilt have no fear for the good success of thine undertakings.

3. What courage should not a man possess, when he hath God on his side!

4. Cast, then, from thy spirit all affliction and fear; they are the outcome of thy cowardice and the action of thine enemy.

5. If thine enemies have not yet conquered, why art thou willing to give them the victory by thy faint-heartedness?

6. The fervent Christian laboureth the more, when his labour is more needed and more for My glory.

7. If thou do as much as thou art able with My grace, then hast thou already conquered, and I hold in My hands thy crown of victory.

8. I do not insist that thou triumph over Mine enemies; but thou must do thine utmost.

9. Although thou do not gain a visible and transitory victory over the wicked, thou dost already conquer if thou bear thyself as a valiant soldier.

10. Oh, how many things thou understandest not as yet, and how very narrow is thy heart!

11. To correspond to My designs is to conquer.

12. To work for My glory with all thy force is to conquer.

13. To make thyself superior to thy weariness is to conquer.

14. To persevere in thine enterprise in spite of the suggestions of the devil is to conquer.

15. To look to My power for victory, when thou hast done all that thy hand findeth to do, is to conquer.
